Educators,
As you continue planning and delivering physical education programming this year, we wanted to share a quick reminder about additional FitnessGram assessments that are available to support a more comprehensive view of student fitness.
Over the past year, FitnessGram has expanded its assessment options to include three valuable test items developed by Kenneth H. Cooper Institute, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and the FitnessGram Advisory Board.

🧠 Available FitnessGram Assessments You May Not Be Using Yet
💪 Hand Grip Assessment
Measures the maximum grip strength of the dominant hand.
Why educators use it:Handgrip strength is closely associated with overall muscular strength and bone health, making it a meaningful indicator of whole-body fitness and physical development.
🦘 Vertical Jump
Measures lower-body power using jump height and body weight.
Why educators use it:Lower-body power plays a key role in youth bone health and overall physical performance. This assessment provides actionable data to help support healthy growth and long-term fitness.
🧘 Plank
Assesses core muscular strength and endurance.
Why educators use it:Core strength supports balance and stability and may help prevent lower back injury. The Plank assessment is crucial in identifying areas where students may benefit from additional core conditioning.
