Did you know? The One Mile Run/Walk assessment in FitnessGram no longer requires height and weight to calculate the Healthy Fitness Zone (HFZ).
That’s right, one of the most widely used aerobic capacity assessments is now even easier to administer.
What’s changed?
The FitnessGram Advisory Board updated the standards to allow you to:
Eliminate height and weight collection for this test
Streamline testing logistics for teachers and staff
Focus more on performance and student experience
What stays the same?
The 1-mile run/walk remains a reliable and validated measure of aerobic capacity, helping you:
Track student progress
Promote lifelong fitness habits
Why it matters?
We know that managing student data collection can be time-consuming and sensitive. This update helps:
Opt-out of BMI collection if preferred
Simplify testing days
Support a more student-friendly assessment process
If you’re planning your next assessment window, now is a great time to take advantage of this update and simplify your process.
