As the new school year begins, students, parents, and educators prepare for fresh opportunities and challenges, know that we're here to help.

This year, FitnessGram is introducing exciting updates designed to support physical education programs and help educators deliver effective fitness assessments. From an enhanced Ambassador Program to improved tools and partnerships, FitnessGram aims to make this school year smoother and more impactful for everyone involved.

Strengthening the FitnessGram Ambassador Program
FitnessGram’s Ambassador Program is a key resource for educators who want to deepen their understanding of fitness assessments and share best practices. This year, the program is expanding with new resources and more chances to connect with peers.
Two registration periods: Educators can sign up at the start of the school year and again after the winter holiday break. This flexibility allows more teachers to join when it fits their schedule.
More support: Ambassadors will receive additional materials and guidance to help them lead fitness initiatives in their schools. We are hosting monthly Ambassador Meetings, hosted by Kayla Raines, our Customer Success Specialist!
Community building: The program encourages collaboration among educators, creating a network for sharing ideas and solutions.
If you know a teacher who would benefit from becoming a FitnessGram Ambassador, encourage them to watch for registration announcements. This role offers valuable professional growth and a chance to influence student health positively.
A Fresh Look at the FitnessGram Website
The FitnessGram website has been updated to provide easier access to resources and clearer information about the Ambassador Program. Educators will find:
Expanded content on how to use FitnessGram tools effectively.
Step-by-step guides for administering assessments.
Tips for interpreting fitness data to improve instruction.
These updates aim to save teachers time and help them feel confident in using FitnessGram throughout the school year.
Continuing Partnership with QuaverEd
FitnessGram is excited to continue its newest collaboration with QuaverEd, a leader in health and physical education resources. This partnership combines engaging lesson plans and activities with FitnessGram’s reliable fitness assessment tools.
Together, they offer educators a more connected approach to teaching health and fitness that supports the whole child. For example:
QuaverEd’s interactive lessons can prepare students for FitnessGram assessments.
FitnessGram data can inform QuaverEd activities tailored to student needs.
Both platforms provide resources that encourage lifelong healthy habits.
This partnership helps teachers create lessons that are both fun and data-driven, improving student engagement and outcomes.
Updated SMART COACH Support for Educators
SMART COACH is a platform that helps teachers manage FitnessGram data and plan instruction. This year, it has been enhanced to provide clearer guidance and more practical tools.
Improved data interpretation: Teachers can better understand what FitnessGram results mean for each student.
Instructional support: SMART COACH offers suggestions on how to use data to tailor lessons and activities.
Resource integration: The platform connects educators with helpful materials to support student fitness goals.
These updates make it easier for teachers to turn assessment results into meaningful action, improving the quality of physical education.
Tips to Start the School Year Strong
Preparing early can make the entire year run more smoothly. Here are some practical ideas to share with PE teachers and school staff:
Organize the equipment room
Take inventory of all sports and fitness equipment. Group items by activity, label storage areas clearly, and repair or remove damaged equipment. An organized space saves time during lessons and reduces frustration.
Create an equipment wish list
Identify what needs replacing and what new items could enhance the program. Prioritize based on urgency, cost, and how much impact the equipment will have on students. This list will be useful when applying for grants or school funding.
Check technology early
Confirm that all devices, internet connections, student rosters, and FitnessGram accounts are ready before assessment season begins. Early checks prevent delays and technical issues during testing.
By taking these steps, educators can focus more on teaching and less on troubleshooting throughout the year.
Supporting Students, Parents, and Educators Together
FitnessGram’s updates reflect a commitment to supporting the entire school community. Students benefit from engaging lessons and clear fitness goals. Parents gain confidence knowing their children’s health is monitored with trusted tools. Educators receive the resources and support they need to deliver effective physical education.
This collaborative approach helps build a foundation for lifelong health and wellness.
As the 2026-2027 school year unfolds, FitnessGram’s new resources and partnerships offer valuable tools to help educators succeed. By organizing equipment, preparing technology, and engaging with the Ambassador Program, teachers can create a strong start for their students’ fitness journeys. Encourage your school community to take advantage of these updates and make this year a positive step toward healthier, more active students.
